Citaldels & Karsts
| Daily (08:00 – 19:00) |
A two-hour, 100km car journey from Hanoi will bring you to Ninh Binh where you will explore Vietnam’s first capital city Hao Lu. The city flourished during the Dinh Dynasty (968-980) and early Le Dynasty (980-1009) and once covered 300 hectares of land. With the passage of time, however, only remnants of this once glorious capital remain today. Upon arrival, your tour guide will walk you through the Dinh and Le Temple, which has been restored to its 17th-century glory. Dedicated to Emperors Dinh and Le, the temple is believed to be standing on the original site of their 11th and 12th-century palaces. From the temple, you will embark on a 12km bicycle journey through the backroads, where towering limestone karsts form a dramatic backdrop. Lunch is then served at a local restaurant, and the journey continues through ‘Ha Long Bay on Land’, famous for its spectacular karst formations, before arriving at a pier where you will switch to a row boat. From here, the two-hour journey will take you through picturesque limestone caves, verdant rice paddy fields and local villages along the Red River Delta. At the end of the journey, you will embark a bigger boat, which will bring you back to Hanoi. |
