Thailand Transportation
Getting to Thailand
Thailand, hub of South East Asia, offers nice transportations. In its three entrances (air, land and water), the majority of visitors around the world arrive by plane through Suvarnabhumi International Airport (East of Bangkok). Chiang Mai (North of Thailand), Phuket and Hat Yai airports (South of Thailand) also have immigration facilities and a small number of scheduled international flight arrivals, mostly from neighboring countries such as Singapore, China and Hong Kong, yet increasing scheduled flights fly directly from Europe and Australia. (Please find the details of Air entrance)
Besides by air, there are regular rail services link Singapore and Bangkok with intermediary stops at Kuala Lumpur, Butterworth, Penang and major southern cities of Thailand. Thailands borders are gateways from neighboring countries; Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia where the paths provided at the immigration check points. Please check out your passport if it needs a visa to enter Thailand, visited http://sunsite.au.ac.th/thailand/tipsonthai/immi.html Cruise ships passengers and yachters arriving must be checked in at the ports as well.
Connections between Mekong Countries
Thailand has several border crossings, mainly used as gateways
for one-day tours, between Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
Overland entry to Thailand is restricted to three road crossings
on the Thai- Malaysian border, and the bridge spanning the
Mekong River between Laos and Thailand at Nong Kai. There
are no riverboat connections with Thailand. Cargo ships calling
at Bangkok's Klong Toey port sometimes have passenger cabin
facilities. Cruise ships, such as Cunard's Queen Elizabeth
II periodically visit Pattaya on Thailands east coast.
