Khao Yai National Park, some 2 hours northeast of Bangkok consists
of moist evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest, and dry evergreen
forest. With some
2,000-2,500 plant species, over 350 bird species, and large
mammals including elephants, white handed gibbon, gaur, Asiatic
black bear and wild dog, Khao Yai is a natural choice for a
wildlife adventure.
This 2 day trip in Khao Yai national park takes you on a number
of nature treks with your naturalist leader through some of
the parks best wildlife habitat. Possible wildlife sightings
include gibbons, stump-tailed macaque, sambar deer, barking
deer, great hornbills, elephants, wild dog and more. |

Day 1 - Bangkok - Khao Yai

06:00 Depart
Bangkok by private minivan for the 2 hours drive to Khao Yai.
Head out with your expert naturalist leader on a nature walk
for the rest of the day through the lush evergreen forest that
dominates the central regions of Khao Yai national park. Porters
are on-hand to carry food and other essentials, and a cook prepares
a traditional Thai lunch for you in the forest. Having freshened
up after your walk, you will visit the park headquarters to
learn more about the park and hear about on-going attempts to
bring together wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching training and
rural development projects to conserve the parks diverse wildlife.
Back to the hotel around 16:00 h. for
a short rest.
Head out to elephant mountain to see the millions
of bats flying out of the cave. Later head on night drive through
the forest on the look out for elephants, deer, civets, porcupine
and other wildlife.
Start driving back to the hotel around 20:00 h.
Dinner en route in a traditional Thai restaurant.
Reach the hotel around 21:30 h.
After dinner, a night drive through the
forest on the look out for elephants, deer, civets, porcupine
and other wildlife.

Day 2 - Khao Yai - Bangkok

of 5 hours) |
A morning
nature trek that focuses on the lives of the parks gibbon populations.
You will set off early in an attempt to view these amazing forest
acrobats at close range. Head on a different trail to find wildlife
like Marbeled cats, Elephants.
Lunch in a restaurant close to Haewsuwat Waterfall,
the most beautiful waterfall of Khao Yai.
Around 13:30 h. Start driving to Khao Kheaw to
watch birds, sometimes the Asiatic Black bears are seen there.
Exit the forest around mid-afternoon and transfer
to your Bangkok hotel. |
