Ban Hom Agricultural Village Tour – Half Day
| 4 hrs (13:30 – 17:30 hrs) |
Drive to the agricultural village of Ban Hom Tai, located 16 kilometers from Vientiane and on the banks of the mighty Mekong River. On the way, stop Ban Bo Ow and visit the unique temple of Vat Khan Tha, featuring a large Emerald Buddha stop the “seven steps of paradise” on the beautiful fresco filled ceremonial house. Upon arrival at Ban Hom, explore a few of the nicely preserved temples in the village. Continue to visit a primary school and perhaps observe a lesson or presentation. Next watch a weaving demonstration and observe the process involved in creating these wonderful fabrics. Visit some of the agricultural plantations to learn some of the traditional methods of farming. Around 4:00 PM each afternoon, you can observe the local villagers, fishing in the Mekong River. Next visit the Tobacco factory which has made Ban Hom famous for producing the best quality tobacco in the region. On the way back to Vientiane, stop at Ban Done Ka Say, often called “Island Village” because it is surrounded by rice fields on all sides.
